8 Piece set. A selection of core drills and companion (minimum starting hole size) pilot drills in a black steel index. The core drills are designed exclusively for enlarging existing holes. The 4-flute design eliminates the catching and hogging-in experienced with standard S & D drills when breaking through thinner materials such as truck frames. These core drills may replace tapered reamers in many applications. The companion pilot drills are mechanics length magnum super premium drill bits. 3 Flats on shank. Special Hi-Molybdenum tool steel. 135° split point for fast penetration and accurate starting without a center punch. Precision ground point, flutes, body, clearance and drill diameter for the ultimate in accuracy and performance. Body and clearance are gold surface treated for maximum lubricity. Drills are heat treated at 2185° F and then nitro-carburize finished at 950° F to be measurably harder than high-speed steel. Space age nitro-carburized steel withstands substantially higher drilling temperatures while maintaining sharpness. Type 175-AG. Made in USA.
